What I Bought in the Winter Sales

I have never made my way into the shops for the post Christmas sales before but as i was working i thought it was an opportune time to have a see what is about. I never like sales because it brings out the worst in people, greed. People rush around pushing people out of the way just to get something a little bit cheaper. Also i am not a massive fan of crowds as i am short so i get pushed around a lot and receive a lot of bags to the face. There wasn't really that much that i wanted but i did get a few bits and bobs which i thought i would share with you.

The main two shops i went into were John Lewis and Lush, i did also get a few bits in Marks and Spencer but that was underwear and to be honest i didn't really feel like sharing my underwear with the internet but i will give you a quick tip, buying underwear in the sale is amazing and you can get really nice underwear for quite a cheap price which makes it a little bit more ok. The only problem is whether or not you can get your size but it is always worth having a look.

I will start with what i got in John Lewis which was a Viviannadoesmakeup inspired purchase. This set was in her gift guide and when i saw it reduced to £13 i thought i would give it a go. It is the Clarins All About Lips Set and it has four miniature lip products inside the set, all in a little pouch. Personally i hate the pouch, it reminds me of gauges and the fact that its white means it will get dirty quickly so i will probably just use it for make up in my hand bag. There is a Rouge Eclat Lipstick which is in the shade 13 Woodrose which is a lovely pink nude which would suit anyone and it also smells amazing. There is a tiny amount of product but it gives you a good chance to try it and it is also handy for your hand bag. This lipstick goes well with the lip gloss in the set which is called a Gloss Prodige in the shade Candy. The colour is very similar to the lipstick but a little bit more berry and it is beautiful, it is similar to a shade i already have from MAC which i will write a post on in a few days. The other two lip products are really what i wanted this set for and they are the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter in shades 01 Rose Shimmer and 06 Rosewood Shimmer. They are both very neural shades and they are very light feeling on the lips. I wanted to try these because a lot of beauty bloggers love these balm type products. I haven't fully tested them out yet but when i have i will write about them in more depth. For £13 i thought this was the perfect time to try some Clarins Products.

Now moving on to what i bought in Lush and firstly i would like to point out that i am slightly annoyed because i bought some of these products last week before they went into the sale and i wish i hadn't bothered but it does mean that now i am set for the rest of the year and won't need to buy anymore. The first thing i picked up was Snowcake Soap, which has been my favourite Lush product for years, it smells like almond and marizpan which i love so i am glad to have got more. The chunk i bought would have been £5.92 but was £2.91 which is an amazing price for this soap. I then went straight to the bath section and there wasn't any of my favourites (Cinders or Melting Snowman) left so i got and Golden Wonder bath bomb and a Christmas Penguin bubble bar. I used both of these on Christmas and i loved the smell it produced. Golden Wonder smells clean, like lime and has a slight moijito vibe. In the bath it makes it blue and creates a golden reflection in the bath, it is difficult to describe but it looks amazing in the bath. The Christmas Penguin gives the bath a warmth through its spicy orange scent. It also gives the bath bubbles, which is why i used them both together because i wanted a bit of colour and bubbles in my bath. I highly recommend both of them because they both make you and your bath smell amazing, i'm just gutted that i didn't find out about these two earlier on. The final product i bought was Rose Jam Shower Gel. It primarily has a very rose scent but there is also a hint of lemon and vanilla hidden within it. I normally buy the smaller bottle for £4.95 but as all of the Christmas products were half price it was £4.75 for the medium sizes bottle so i bought the bigger one which will last me that little bit longer. Overall all of these products were £11 which is incredible and i am very happy i managed to get into Lush whilst it was still quite quiet and they had stuff left.

As i said i haven't been sales shopping before the start of the new year before but as i went early in the morning of the 27th it was still quite early in the sales which is why i got some good bits and it wasn't at all busy. I imagine if you had gone into Lush any later it wouldn't have had all of the stuff i bought. After this experience i would never rush out to do sales shopping but if i am working again next year i might have a look like i did this year. I also bought a few items on Boohoo.com but i am still waiting for them to arrive so you will get a post on those two items soon.

Did you go sales shopping and did you get any amazing bargins, let me know in the comments.
