It was reported that Tom Hooper, the Academy Award winner director for The King's Speech, may have the big screen adaptation of Victor Hugo's musical Les Misérables.
According to Collider, "Deadline reports that Hooper is very close to choosing Les Mis as his next directorial effort. The film will be an adaptation of the stage musical, rather than a straight adaptation of Hugo’s novel. William Nicholson (Elizabeth: The Golden Age) wrote the screenplay and Cameron Mackintosh, who produced the stage musical, will be producing the film as well."
Nice project after the Oscar winning movie about the king with a speech problem! I will keep an eye on this project...
Paul Giamatti (Sideways) was casted in the big screen adaptation of the Broadway hit musical Rock of Ages. According with the best sources, Giamatti will play the manager of a rock band.
The adaptation of Rock of Ages already has Tom Cruise (Jerry Maguire), Mary J. Blidge, Russell Brand (Get Him to the Greek), Alec Baldwin (30 Rock TV series) and Julianne Hough in the cast and a part of the movie was offered to Amy Adams (The Fighter), but there's no answer from the actress yet.
The Christopher Nolan's upcoming produced movie, the Superman Rebootm (Superman: the Man of Steel), as some names attached to play the movie's villain: Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) and Edgar Ramirez (Carlos).
The "who will be the villain" is unkown yet, but both rumoured actors have already showed their talents on screen and both would be great choices for any kind of movie, but Ramirez is a "fresher face" than Shannon's, which would make the things even more interesting if he was chosen, but I wouldn't complain if it Shannon was casted, because both are good actors!
The Superman Reboot will be directed by Zack Snyder (300) and produced by Christopher Nolan, between other identities. It will star Henry Cavill (The Tudors TV series) as Superman and Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves) and Diane Lane (Unfaithful) as his adoptive parents.
The movie is set for a December release in 2012.
